Know for her avant-guarde art, music and films as well as for peace-activism, Ono's continuous philanthropic contributions to the arts are considerable. She developed an impressive oeuvre of Conceptual and Performance art and Happenings. Her heuristic publication Grapefruit, a book of surreal, Zen-like instructions or event-scores replacing the physical work of art, was published several times since 1964. Ono received, among other prestigious recognitions, the Golden Lion Award for lifetime achievement from the Venice Biennale in 2009.

For the VENICE INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART WEEK, Yoko Ono conceived the participatory installation entitled Night and Day for VeniceA selection of her event scores are displayed.
